Writing

As well as serving as editor-in-chief of Golf Punk, Dan has an extensive writing background. A former Sports Editor of iafrica.com, he continues as Contributing Editor, and writes Dan's World, a satirical sports column best known for spoof diaries of national cricket captain Graeme Smith and Springbok lock forward Bakkies Botha, and for which Dan was one of three finalists in the South African Comedy Awards for Outstanding Humorous Column.

Dan has also served as Contributing Editor to Player Magazine, served as columnist and feature writer with Compleat Golfer, and written columns for The Wisden Cricketer, Wine, Shape, and SA Rugby News. He also served as London magazine TNT's South African correspondent, and has contributed to Cricinfo India, Rugby World, Time Out, and Elle amongst others.

A number of sports stars have also had columns ghost-written by Dan, including John Smit, Butch James, Breyton Paulse, Robbie Fleck, and Ryk Neethling.

Dan's Words ....

"Writing Dan's World for five years now has shown just how many South Africans there are around the world – I get mail from homesick compatriots in Vietnam, China, Belgium, the Caribbean, and a dozen other unlikely corners of the planet. I'm working on my dream project at the moment though: the screenplay for a Bob Skinstad biopic. Woody Allen as Skinstad, Scarlett Johansson as Percy Montgomery, Queen Latifah as Robbie Kempson – it has Oscar written all over it."

Investec JAG Invitational

Nick Farr-Jones: A long-time supporter of the JAG Foundation, Nick Farr-Jones will join us from Sydney for his debut at the Invitational. Captain of the Wallaby team that won the Rugby World Cup in 1991, Farr-Jones represented Australia 63 times, 36 as captain, and is now a regular television pundit. This is Farr-Jones's first crack at the Invitational.
